Splitting headache?

“A great wind is blowing, and that gives you either imagination or a headache.”

Catherine the Great

I really wouldn't mind imagination.. but headaches??? That's an entirely different story.

A majority of headaches are harmless and can be caused due to many factors like tension, migraine, eyestrain, dehydration, low BP, sugar and sinusitis. If you are reading this, I take it that you spend ample time before your PC and are often prone to headaches.

Many people are scared to take over the counter products to cure headaches fearing addiction. Let us look at a few natural remedies to tackle headaches.

Aromatherapy:
A hot or cold compress around the head and neck will work wonders. Add a few drops of essential oils to soothe your nerves.

Exercise:
Moderate exercise and proper sleep are very important. Try to sleep for fixed hours

Rest:
Relax in a low-lit room away from noise.

Breathe: Do some deep breathing exercises. Breath through your nose and let out through your mouth.

Diet:

Eat less oily food. Have proper supplements of B complex. Avoid chocolate, caffeine

An apple a day keeps headaches away!!

Luscious lips

What does the name 'Angelina Jolie' bring to your mind?

Apart from her wedded life and her dozen adopted kids, that is. Her lips? Luscious, pink, healthy and full.

Not all of us are blessed with lips like that. And even those who are blessed with such lips have to take pains to ensure they are perfect. Lips are the most sensitive part of your body. Pollution, food and cosmetics leave them chapped, dry, stained and colorless. Dry chapped lips are not only painful but also bring unwanted attention to the face. Lips will look beautiful ONLY if they are healthy.

Here are a few tips on lip care.

* STOP licking your lips.
* Protect your lips while going out in extreme weather conditions. Wear a lip balm (SPF 15).
* Ensure a proper supply of B vitamins.
* Drink plenty of water (The magic number is 8)
* Don't bite your lips either.
* Always remember to remove makeup at the end of the day
* Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables
* Vitamin A is also important for repair of skin. Ensure that your diet includes vitamin A rich ingredients like carrots, tomatoes, green leafy vegetables, whole grains and legumes. You can also have a vitamin rich juice made up of 1 tbsp. of water cress, carrot and spinach juice, 2 tbsp. wheat germ oil, one glass of tomato juice, and 1 tbsp. of nutritional yeast

Skin is usually chapped because of loss of moisture and natural oils.
A few home remedies for lip problems.

Lip balm:
Take two table spoons of Vaseline, add one table spoon cranberry sauce or beetroot juice. This makes a smooth and pink lip balm.

For rosy lips:
* Massage lips with corriander leaf juice
* Grind rose petals with milk cream and apply on lips
* Crush the rind of one lemon and apply the juice to your lips
* Mix equal parts of coconut and almond oil. Apply on lips and leave overnight. Repeat every night for two weeks.
